Dylan Koontz is the 2010 National Greco Champion (Novice 60).

                                       ANDERSON HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING

Head Coach: Luke Cripe

Assistant Coaches: Dan Yeager, Nathan Brown, & Mike Koch

ANDERSON WRESTLING

TEAM GOALS

  1. League Champs!!! We need to make a stand and say enough is enough. We have the talent to win a league title, but have to believe that this is possible. We will work together as a team in school, in practice, when we lift, and condition. The emphasis is always the team and putting ones best effort forward in the best interest of the “TEAM”. Bo Schembechler once said, “No one man is greater than the team, no one coach is greater than the team; THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM…”
  2. Sectional and District Champs!!! If we are going to be the best, then we are going to have to beat the best! I feel that we have the talent to accomplish great things this season. Remember that Great Moments Are Born From Great Opportunity. We have several great opportunities this season to create great moments, but what are we willing to sacrifice as wrestlers and coaches to create great moments for our program?
  3. Get multiple athletes to the State Tournament!!! This can be done and this will be done this season. Keep in mind it is not just the individual that qualifies to the state tournament, but a TEAM effort that gets that wrestler to that level. One may put in the extra mat time, extra lifting, go to the camps, but this is an almost impossible effort to do alone. At some point a team mate, a coach, or a combination of both helped that individual reach this Great Moment!
  4. STATE PLACER or STATE CHAMPION!!! It has been to long! It is time that someone steps up and establishes themselves as a great wrestler. Who will do this? All I can say is this. You will be given many opportunities to become the best wrestler possible, but it ultimately comes down to you and what you are willing to sacrifice to become the best wrestler you can possibly be.

                                                         AHS TEAM CONTRACT

 Academic:

  1. Everyone is expected to be at school everyday.  Our goal is to end the season with a team GPA of 3.5.
  2. All wrestlers will turn in a Progress Report of their class averages every Monday at the start of practice. Not turning your Progress book Average report will result in extra conditioning that is at the coaches discretion.
  3. Any athlete that has a cumulative GPA lower than 2.75 and/or is not passing 5 classes not counting a PE course will be required to attend study table prior to school starting w/ Mrs. Bailey. Receiving a D or an F in any class will require you to attend study table prior to school starting until the D or F is brought up to at least a C.
  4. We highly recommend that you register for a minimum of 6 .5 credit classes not counting PE for all semesters, if you are concerned with athletic eligibility.
  5. All athletes will meet the eligibility requirements set down by the OHSAA and Forest Hills School District.

Athletic:

  1. You must attend all practice, strength and conditioning sessions during season.  Everyone should be at practice, injured or not.  If you are sick, you still must come to practice on time.
  2. You must make weight for all competitions.  ALL team members will meet in Coach Yeager’s classroom or predetermined area on the day of competition.  All team members will sit on the bench and be dressed in pre-determined gear.
  3. All team members will have their conditioning and body density checked no later than October 1st.
  4. Medical care (injury or illness) should be coordinated with our athletic trainer and you must attend regularly.
  5. You must inform our athletic trainer and coaches of any skin infections.
  6. All team members must be ready to compete at all times.
  7. You are expected to follow through on a daily basis with rehabilitation and treatment until released by the athletic trainer or physician.

General:

  1. You must attend all team meetings (e.g., award banquets, physicals, study tables, etc.).
  2. BE ON TIME!  If we set a time to meet or leave, be ready.  Get taped or treatment before or after practice time.
  3. Treat your teammates with respect.  Absolutely no hazing of younger team members.  We are a family.
  4. Fighting is prohibited.  Do not fight or start a fight.  You must report any problems to a coach.
  5. Any use of alcohol, tobacco, and/or illegal drugs is prohibited and wrestlers will be punished to the full extent of the Forest Hills Athletic Code of Conduct.
  6. You are responsible for any information sent to your voice mail, email, or locker room message board.
  7. Only music with appropriate language will be played in the practice facility.  Keep your language appropriate.
  8. Summer camps are instrumental in our success.  Everyone will be strongly encouraged to be there.  This is a year round training program.
  9. Getting into trouble with the school or police will not be tolerated.  Do not do anything that will disgrace you, your family, the school, team or coaches.  Anyone getting in trouble with the school, or police, will be punished within the rules of the  Forest Hills, which could result in immediate suspension from the team.
  10. You must wear Anderson Wrestling issued team travel uniform on the day of matches.

Equipment:

  1. You must wear Anderson Wrestling issued gear at all practices (e.g. wrestling, strength and conditioning).
  2. You must wear Anderson Wrestling issued gear at all competitions (no exceptions).
  3. Equipment must be turned in immediately at the conclusion of home competitions and upon bus arrival from away competitions.
  4. Only Anderson Wrestling practice gear should be put on laundry loops.  All other gear will be removed from loop and discarded.
  5. This is your notice…Any equipment left in the room will be collected the coaching staff. In order to get these items back, extra conditioning will be necessary to get those items back (conditioning will be at the coach’s discretion).
  6. Any team issued gear not turned in by years end will be charged to your Anderson High School account.

I have read and had an opportunity to ask questions about the document, and agree to abide by all OHSAA, Forest Hills, and Anderson High School rules. I understand that failure to adhere to these rules/guidelines will result in either increased study Table hours, and/ or a physically demanding workout.  Multiple violations may result in suspension from the team.  Violation of any policy is also punishable by the Department of Athletics’ protocol.
